Terms of Service
Last updated 23 September 2026.
These terms are the agreement between you and Colón Bacó LLC, a limited liability company in Puerto Rico, United States, which operates BuzzCode. By creating an account or using BuzzCode you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
What BuzzCode is, and what it is not
BuzzCode gives a home or office its own phone number. When your building's intercom dials that number, BuzzCode answers, asks the caller for a BuzzCode (an access code you create), and — if it matches — plays the tones that open the gate.
BuzzCode is a convenience, not a security system. It is not monitored, it is not life-safety equipment, and it is not a substitute for emergency services. Anyone who knows one of your BuzzCodes can open your gate, and BuzzCodes can be shared, overheard, guessed or passed on without your knowledge. Do not use BuzzCode where unauthorised entry would cause serious harm, and do not rely on it in an emergency. If you have an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Your account
You need a working email address to sign in. Keep access to that mailbox: anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
Your responsibilities
- Permission to use the intercom. You confirm you are entitled to have your building's intercom dial your intercom number, and to have that directory entry changed. Some leases, building rules and agreements with intercom companies do not allow it. Checking is your responsibility, not ours — we never contact your building.
- Who you let in. You decide who receives a BuzzCode and for how long. You are responsible for anyone who enters using a BuzzCode from your account.
- Telling people. You are responsible for any notice you owe your building, your neighbours or your visitors under the law where you live, including about calls being answered and logged.
- Other people's contact details. If you ask us to send alerts to someone else's email address, you confirm they agreed to receive them.
Your phone number
The number assigned to your unit is leased by us from our telephone provider for as long as your plan is running. It is not sold to you, it cannot be transferred or ported to another provider, and we release it when you cancel, delete the unit, or payment fails and is not fixed. Once released, the number may be reassigned to someone else and cannot be recovered. We may have to change a number for technical or regulatory reasons; we will tell you if that happens.
Acceptable use
Do not use BuzzCode or its numbers for marketing calls, automated dialling, harassment, or anything unlawful, and do not attempt to break into other people's units or interfere with the service. Our telephone provider's rules apply to your use of the number as well as ours. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, or where we are required to.
Availability
BuzzCode depends on things we do not control: your building's intercom and wiring, telephone carriers, our suppliers, and the internet. We do not promise any level of uptime, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades or reasons outside our control. Intercom equipment varies, and some panels do not pass keypad tones through a call at all — which is why spoken BuzzCodes are offered as an alternative. We cannot guarantee BuzzCode will work with your particular installation.
Plans, payment and cancellation
- Your plan and its price are shown before you subscribe and on your unit's Billing tab. Prices are per unit, per month, in US dollars.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Payment is taken by Stripe on the renewal date using the card you provided.
- You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in your account. Service continues to the end of the month you have already paid for, then the number is released.
- We do not refund part-months or unused time. If we discontinue the service ourselves, we will refund any period you have paid for but not received.
- If a payment fails we will retry it and email you. If it is still unpaid after the grace period shown in your account, the number is released.
- Prices may change. We will give you advance notice by email, and a new price takes effect at your next renewal. If you do not want to pay it, cancel before then.
No warranty
BuzzCode is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will open your gate on any given occasion.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost data, or loss of use — including being unable to enter your home, a delivery not being received, or someone being let in who should not have been.
Our total liability for any claim relating to BuzzCode is limited to the amount you paid us for the unit in question in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using BuzzCode at any time by cancelling and deleting your account. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms, if we are required to, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give you reasonable notice and refund any period you have paid for in advance.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you we will email the address on your account before it takes effect. Continuing to use BuzzCode after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top of this page always shows when it last changed.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts located in Puerto Rico, and you and we each agree to that. Nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer law of the place you live.
