Compatibility
Will it work in your building?
BuzzCode works with intercoms that call a phone number. Two questions settle it.
When a visitor picks your unit on the lobby panel, does it ring a phone (your cell or a landline)?
If it rings a handset mounted inside the unit, or a guard calls up from a front desk, the answer is no.
Can your building's administrator change which number your unit calls?
Answer both questions to see if BuzzCode fits.
Most hosts know the first answer from the last time a guest arrived.
Setup
Set up once. Every guest after that lets themselves in.
- Step 1
Add your unit and pick a number
Pick a local 787 or 939 number. That's your intercom number. Nothing to install.
- Step 2
Give the number to your building
Your administrator adds your intercom number to your unit's entry in the directory, or replaces the one there. Use our message.
- Step 3
Send each guest a BuzzCode
Add it to your check-in instructions. Guests select your unit and type or say it at the panel.
Built for turnovers
One door, many people, and none of them call you.
Red-eye flights land at 1 AM
Guests get in on their own schedule. Nobody calls you to buzz them up.
Your crew gets its own code
Make a code that works only on turnover day, and see each time it was used.
Groceries and packages too
Give a courier a one-time code, or let calls without a code forward to your phone.
- Codes with start and end dates, so access ends at checkout
- Use limits per code, for one-time visitors
- Keypad or voice: guests type the code or say it
- Calls without a code forward to your phone
- Email alerts and a log of every entry
- Manage several units from one account
Check-in instructions
Paste this into your listing.
A guest needs two things: your unit on the panel and their code. Edit the sample and add it to your Airbnb or Vrbo check-in instructions.
Building entry At the front door, select unit 4B on the intercom panel. When you hear the greeting, type or say your code: 4817. Your code works from 3:00 PM on your check-in day until 11:00 AM on checkout day.
For your building administrator
The one setup step, already written.
BuzzCode doesn't touch your intercom. Your administrator adds your intercom number to your unit's entry, usually a one-line change. Send them this, in English or Spanish.
Hi [name], I've set up a phone number for unit [4B]'s intercom entry: [(787) 555-0142]. Could you add it to my unit's entry in the intercom directory, or replace the number that's there? Nothing else changes for the building. Thank you!
¡Gracias!

Questions hosts ask
FAQ
Does it work with my building's intercom?
Yes, if your intercom calls a phone number when a visitor selects your unit. Panels that ring a handset inside the apartment, and buildings where a guard calls up from a desk, don't work with BuzzCode.
What if the keypad doesn't work on my intercom?
Some intercoms don't pass key presses once the call connects. Guests can say the same digits out loud instead: new units accept a BuzzCode typed or spoken.
What happens if a guest forgets the code?
Calls without a valid code can forward to your phone, so you can let them in yourself.
Can a code stop working at checkout?
Yes. Each code can have a start date, an end date and a use limit.
Can my cleaner have a separate code?
Yes. Make as many codes as you need, each with its own schedule. Email alerts tell you when each one is used.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Your building's administrator adds your intercom number to your unit's entry. There's no hardware to buy, and no app for guests.
Will I be charged during the free trial?
No. Your first $7 charge comes after 30 days. We email you 3 days before, and you can cancel anytime.
I manage several units. Is that a problem?
No. Each unit gets its own number and costs $7 a month, and you manage all of them from one account. The free trial covers your first unit.
Is BuzzCode affiliated with Airbnb or Vrbo?
No. BuzzCode is an independent service from Colón Bacó LLC in Puerto Rico. It works with any booking platform.
Give your next late arrival a code instead of your phone number.
